The designer Keiji Takeuchi, from the beginning of the project, was drawn to creating tiles that enrich the atmosphere of a space rather than designing a strongly prominent element. This perspective led to an exploration of the relationship between light and shadow. He therefore decided to use a 3D surface that produces a subtle yet sharp pattern of shades across the monochromatic tile surface.
The relief is so subtle that it creates a pleasant tactile experience. It is also enjoyable to perceive the time of day through the transition of this living motif. Shades comes in five tones.
